Dear Maxwell Family,
Welcome back! I hope everyone had a terrific summer. Let me introduce myself. My name is Teresa Forbes-Lopez and I am your 2010-2011 PTA President for the school year. As PTA President and a parent of a Maxwell student I am excited and eager to work with each and every one of you to make this an exceptional year for our students.
Our initial and future goal here at Maxwell is to provide our students with the best programs and support to excel in every way possible. This goal can be met by gaining your support, parent participation on committees, volunteerism and PTA membership.
There are many ways and benefits to strengthen the Maxwell family. I invite you to join the Maxwell PTA. The PTA has a membership fee of $6.00. PTA membership allows parents to participate and have a voice in what is best for our students here at Maxwell. A member’s benefits also include discounts with various vendors including Barnes and Noble and T-Mobile.
Volunteering is a great way to participate in your child’s educational journey. This can be done by donating your time to help students with math tiles, acting as a homeroom parent or working with God’s Pantry a program that we support and believe very strongly in to just name a few. Being able to advocate for our children by helping teachers with minimal request, being on a committee or simply offering support are all equally important ways of supporting the PTA. If you feel that you are unable to offer support in that manner then you could help with the Box Top & Label for Education collection program, searching goodsense.com and/or visiting Amazon.com, Invest in your child and various other ways.
We are looking forward to a spectacular school year. I hope that you will be as excited and ready to excel with and for our children as I am.
